Students, Here’s How To Draw Notes On The Staff

There’s a new ‘splainer video up on my YouTube channel! Link to this video to help your students learn how to write notes clearly and correctly on the staff with proper stem placement and spacing. My students love to draw notes on manuscript paper, and it’s a great way to help them really internalize the note names and improve their note reading! Often, though, they often don’t remember the rules for stem direction, or they draw the notehead too big, or they bunch all of the notes at the beginning of the measure. Just like we need to learn handwriting even though we will probably type most things on a computer, we need to learn to write music notation before we learn to write it on a computer. So, here’s my ‘splainer! Enjoy!
